Rice can go with so many types of foods, from chicken to fish. There are also a lot of dishes that have rice as a base, such as rice balls or sushi. Don’t be intimidated by all the recipes found online because with this list of steps, you’ll find cooking rice has never been simpler!
Boil water and add salt. For every cup of rice, you’ll need 1 ¾ cups of water. Use a medium sized sauce pan with a tight-fitting lid.
Pour the rice into the boiling water. Adding it after the water boils makes sure the rice gets fully cooked and the rice will absorb the moisture from the salted water much faster. The more you stir the stickier the rice will become.
Cover the pot and simmer. Turn the heat down to the lowest setting and properly fit the lid to the pot. Let the rice simmer for about 15-18 minutes. After that, remove the pot from the heat, and let the rice steam in the pot with the lid still on for an additional 5 minutes.
Use a fork to fluff up your rice and separate the grains.
That’s it! You’ve successfully cooked delicious, fluffy rice for you or your family.
